I am available to work on a sessional basis within primary and secondary schools. Referrals are usually made by the Principal and a referral form can be provided or downloaded here. Firstly, I will have an introductory meeting with the young person and their parent(s)/carer(s). This allows me to explain the nature and structure of the art therapy sessions and for the young person and parent(s)/carer(s) to ask questions. Should the young person and parent(s)/carer(s) wish to go ahead with the therapy, a consent form should be signed.
An initial three sessions are useful, aiming to give the young person an introduction to the therapy. After the three introductory sessions a review is held with the young person, parent(s)/carer(s) and myself. This is an opportunity to discuss if the sessions are to continue and to give feedback. Reviews are standard practice and should be held every six to eight weeks.
